On October 1st, the legal representatives of Odila Castillo Bonilla released an official statement addressing the allegations circulated by multiple Panamanian news sources. These reports are viewed as deliberate assaults motivated by particular financial interests, aiming to damage Castillo’s professional image and personal dignity.
Carlos Carillo, an attorney from Castillo’s legal team, remarked: “The claims lack foundation and are designed to hinder the progress of a young legal professional and her associate, all for the benefit of undisclosed economic agendas.”
The representation of Odila Castillo
The defense underscored that this is not the initial case of media harassment faced by Castillo. Back in 2021, a Panamanian news organization mistakenly reported a supposed arrest of the attorney related to an investigation, a statement that was later refuted, clarifying that it had no connection to the current issues.
At the press conference, the defense declared that both the recent allegations and those from 2021 were founded on partial truths, intended to diminish her professional career.
Additionally, they argued that the information published about Odila Castillo by the media breaches confidentiality principles. They explained that one part of the investigation originated from a previously resolved family issue, while another component pertains to immigration activities and tax filings, along with other data gathered through improper means.
Unauthorized Surveillance of Odila Castillo
The defense further claimed that Castillo has been the target of GPS tracking, which amounts to a type of illegal monitoring.
Carrillo wrapped up by declaring: “The essential rights of our client have been breached, as guaranteed by our Constitution and the law. We will take all necessary legal measures to determine liability for the harm caused and any that may be intended.”
